In Southern California it is well known that In-N-Out is the best burger around, but in Paris it met it’s match. A friend of a friend recommended the Big Fernand to Maddy and I, and since then I’ve been dreaming about the day that it finally arrives in the States! The Big Fernand is the best combination of a gourmet and fast food burger that the world has ever seen.
In the three days that we spent in Paris we had to make two stops because we couldn’t fight the craving. The Big Fernand’s claim to fame is Le Bartholomé, a burger with such a great combination of flavors that you will legitimately be left craving more, even if you are completely stuffed. This is not your typical burger with beef, cheese, lettuce, and tomato…this is so much more; this is a culinary creation for the ages! The burger is cooked to your liking and comes with Raclette cheese, crunchy, smoked bacon, confit onions, chives, the famous BB Fernand sauce, and the Tata Fernand sauce. The perfect sides are extra-cooked fries with house seasoning and a Bionade (bio-lemonade) to wash it down.
We were given a list by my friend of some of the best (semi-affordable) spots to eat in Paris, but to be honest, we would have been perfectly fine eating a different burger from the Big Fernand for all of our meals. Maddy and I like to consider ourselves true foodies (I know what you’re thinking, how cliché, but we are!) and enthusiasts of food from every single culture. Although we’re young, I think we’ve had our fair share of delicious burgers and to be completely honest the flavors from this particular burger were like no other.
The mixture of the friendly staff in their plaid shirts, the modern yet archaic design of the dining area, and obviously the delicious food is sure to have anyone crawling back. In a city with world-class fine dining, we left raving about a little burger joint. I am counting down the days that I finally get to taste the burger again; the day that it finally arrives in Manhattan will be one of the best days of my school year!
