The HTL KUNGSGATAN is the newest, most chic hotel on the block in Stockholm, and after reading this article, you will not need to do any more research on where to stay in Stockholm. HTL KUNGSGATAN is it.

The HTL KUNGSGATAN opened about a year ago, and since then, one more HTL property has opened up in Oslo and another is set to open there next month! What’s interesting and fresh about HTL HOTELS is its mission to provide its guests with everything they could possibly need (and much more!) to have a fantastic hotel stay, and at a fraction of the cost.
Three days before we arrived in Stockholm, I received an email from HTL prompting me to download the handy, high-tech HTL APP, which would allow me to check-in quickly, before my arrival even, and to have my key handy, right on my iPhone, that could unlock my door at the touch of a button, before I even reached my door. This is great because I will always, always put down my room key and end up misplacing it, but I will never lose my baby, my beloved iPhone (Except for this morning in the Arlanda Airport. But I found it, after a mini heart attack and some frantic searching! Phew! All is well.)! The email went a step further in terms of service by offering me HTL’s CITYGUIDE, HTL’s favorite recommendations to help me figure out exactly what I wanted to do and see during my stay in Stockholm. I hadn’t even been to Stockholm yet, let alone laid eyes on the HTL KUNGSGATAN, and I was already impressed.
We arrived in Stockholm on the Arlanda Express (And my goodness, it was expensive! But that’s like everything else in Stockholm, with the exception of the HTL KUNGSGATAN.) and were pleased to find that the hotel was conveniently and centrally located, and only a two minutes walk from the stop. This couldn’t have been more perfect, as it was past midnight and we were tired and ready to sleep! Other than the proximity to the Arlanda Express stop, shopping, restaurants, and cafés awaited us right outside of the HTL KUNGSGATAN‘s doors. The HTL is a three-minute walk from the Visit Stockholm tourism office, and no more than ten minutes from Gamla Stan and most of the other attractions you’ll be interested in visiting, like the Royal Palace, the Royal Opera House, and the docks for any archipelago or canal tour. Overall, the HTL KUNGSGATAN could not be situated in a more strategic and central location for travelers and business people alike.
The HTL KUNGSGATAN also allows its guests the choice to check-in with the host or to check-in at a station like you would at an airport. We opted to check-in with the friendly host at the reception desk that checked us in quickly and efficiently. As we could already tell, the HTL KUNGSGATAN offers so many different options for the guests’ convenience, and we were happy to find that this theme continued throughout our stay. And a quick note on the reception desk: We instantly felt at home because the HTL KUNGSGATAN designed the reception desk to look and feel more like a cozy coffee shop, featuring pastries, beer, espresso, and coffee, rather than having a typical, stuffy reception desk with a robotic hotel employee.
Our elevator arrived quickly to sweep us up to our hotel room. Our rooms at the HTL KUNGSGATAN was clean, comfortable, and posh, which is pretty much all you should ask for in an accommodation; however, that is not all. Not even close. From an intuitive and modern design, to extra high-tech features, to smart space functionality, and much more, the HTL KUNGSGATAN caters to its guests’ every want and need, ensuring a more than pleasant stay. Starting with the restroom, the tiled floors are heated. I don’t know if it’s just me, but other than at the Clarion Admiral in Bergen, Norway, never have I ever had the luxury of heated tiles in my bathroom at a hotel (or in my own house – I wish!). The shower has two different showerheads depending on your preference (notice the options theme!) and is designed beautifully; the entire bathroom is designed beautifully actually. There are plenty of hooks to hang everything from towels to your clothes while you bathe, and the sink is deep, preventing any kind of splashing as you wash your face or hands.
When it came to the aesthetic design, functionality, and extra features in our room, I would not have changed a thing. Seriously, heaven in a hotel room, I’m tellin’ ya. So first and foremost, the bed, because that’s the most important aspect in my opinion, was cloudlike; it was insanely comfortable. Actually, if I had to change one thing, this would be it, because my bed was so comfortable that I never wanted to get up and actually explore Stockholm, which is why I visited the HTL KUNGSGATAN after all! Underneath, the bed we found plenty of storage for all of our things, which also contained extra towels and blankets for our convenience. Next to the bed, USB ports protruded from the wall, excluding the need for bulky and annoying converters/adaptors, and the bedside tables also doubled as safes, which were wide and deep enough to fit the largest of laptops, cameras, and other valuables. On the wall hung a very nice and big flat screen television, featuring extras like Apple TV and mirroring (where you can wirelessly connect your IOS devices to the television to watch Netflix on the big screen, for example), options to call a taxi or Uber (with an exclusive HTL discount for first-time Uber users) or order room service from your screen, city guides and recommendations, and of course, regular cable television channels. On the same wall also hung a gigantic mirror, making everything from makeup to hair to getting dressed so much easier, especially when someone else used the restroom! We also found hooks conveniently mounted throughout the room to hang anything and everything, which I much prefer to a closet. Overall, the design of our room was sleek, modern, and beautiful and we had everything we needed, plus plenty of extras. For the price we paid at the HTL KUNGSGATAN, all of this is simply unheard of – except here!
Morning, noon, and night, the HTL KUNGSGATAN is ready to serve you, and especially when it comes to food and drinks! The restaurant, bar, and lounge on the floor level offer a wide variety of drinks and boast a menu that seems as though it was customized specifically to your taste. We ate breakfast in the hotel each morning, as it was included in our fare. Breakfast was healthy, delicious, and there is no way we would have been able to find a cheaper breakfast anywhere else in the city. I guarantee that. From the croissants, to the parfaits, to the coffee, to the most amazing strawberry smoothie I’ve ever had, breakfast at the HTL KUNGSGATAN was delightful. Also, in the front of the hotel, you’ll find a small store for your convenience where you can purchase an assortment of items such as Swedish candies, juices, toothpaste, and cough drops.
So you’re probably wondering, how is it that I can claim that the HTL KUNGSGATAN is one of the best, most intuitive, innovative, and beautiful hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in, meanwhile I’m also claiming that it’s affordable, even cheap, at around $100 USD (899 SEK) per night. And no, it is not a hostel! Not even close, though I know that seems like the only logical answer. How can a hotel that is centrally located, clean, comfortable, and nice possibly not empty your wallet? Well, I’ll tell you how they manage it. HTL HOTELS prides itself on providing the amazing experience that I just described to each and every one of its guests, without robbing them blind. There is no gym at the HTL, however we are travelers and explorers, and we don’t have time for that anyway! We’d rather get our exercise in by walking the city. There are no giant business conference rooms that remain empty throughout most of the year. Who needs conference rooms? Not us. You also will not find a closet in your room, rather hooks are mounted throughout, which is a cost-effective way to store our things. When was the last time you checked into a hotel, unpacked all of your stuff, and hung it in a closet? Never, that’s when! There’s plenty of storage underneath the bed if the hooks aren’t enough, so you won’t even notice the closet’s missing. Lastly, usually hotel rooms are about 50 square meters, but the HTL KUNGSGATAN has sliced the extra space in half, leaving the rooms just spacious enough for comfort and unrestricted movement throughout. The team at HTL HOTELS did their research; they know what us travelers need and they know what we want; they eliminated the features that some hotels offer, that we could not care less about, but still have to pay for. The HTL KUNGSGATAN’s smart and clever design allows us a cost-effective way to stay, at a fraction of the cost that we’d find anywhere else.
Wondering where to stay in Stockholm? The search is over because you’ve found the HTL KUNGSGATAN. Lucky you.

Sounds and looks like it couldn’t have been any better there! Nice!
It couldn’t have, you’re right!
I like it. Why should we pay for conference rooms and all of the things that we never use. Some great ideas here.
