If you aren’t aware, California used to be Mexican territory. So as a Southern California native, I know my guacamole. In my opinion, the ability to make good guacamole should actually be a prerequisite of living in California. And you might agree. But, mango guacamole?!, you ask.
Oh, yes. 1000%.
If you think you like guacamole, just wait until you try this recipe. (Because there’s actually nothing better on this planet.)
Once you make this mango guacamole recipe, you’ll never go back to boring regular guacamole ever again. This I know for sure.
Whenever I introduce people — and specifically my Australian and Kiwi friends here in Byron Bay — to mango guacamole, they’re initially perplexed. They’re like: Woah, um, that’s weird?
But then they try it. And they’re like: Wow, this is actually amazing – such a good combo.
And I’m like: Yep, I know.
So to be brief, this recipe is a real crowd-pleaser and I know you, your friends, and fam will all love it.
How to Make Guacamole with Mango
To make this guac, you will need the following ingredients. (And don’t be scared off by how many there are — this is what it actually takes to make a damn good guacamole, whether you add in mango or not.)
- Roma Tomato
- Red Onion
- Cumin Powder
- Chili Powder
- Red Pepper Flakes
The good news is, you probably already have many of these ingredients on hand. And if not, they’re all very easy to find at any grocery store. That is, as long as mangoes are in season!
The Method: How to Make Guacamole with Mango
Throwing together your mango guac is super simple and straightforward.
Essentially the method includes some simple knife work, and then you just mix everything together!
All you need to do is cube avocado and mango; chop tomato; mince red onion; super finely mince garlic; roughly chop cilantro (use the stems too, because that’s where all the flavor is); juice some limes; and lightly toss everything together into a bowl with cumin powder, chili powder, red pepper flakes, and salt.
Then your mango guacamole is ready to serve up with your favorite tortilla chips — and maybe some of my epic salsa roja as well.
